After months of work, our in-house project, Foncept.com, finally launched.

In the Barcamp Hong Kong 2008, Rick and Edwin had given a brief introduction on OAuth, a protocol allowing secure API authorization. Following is the slideshow they used in the event:

Edwin Chu is a very experienced programmer who has been working on various software and web projects. He has recently completed the Po Leung Kuk Sichuan Website, a Content Management System for Padma Art and a simple Ruby on Rails project for a web startup.

Steven Kam is a drop-out from a Master of Economic (our first University drop-out! Just for fun.) and enthusiast in Web 2.0. He is responsible for communicating with our clients and making sure the project get properly completed.

With our new team members and new capacity, we will be able to take up more works and duties. Let us know your next web start-up idea, and we will make it happen!

We’re moving our office to Witty Commercial Building in Mongkok. We need a new office for a better working environment. We have chosen Mongkok solely for its location as we’ve staff from Tuen Mun, and Sheung Shui.

Subversion 1.5 was released with a lot of new and cool features (like merge tracking!). However most of our servers currently run on Ubuntu 8.04 and as a stable release we can’t expect to have the official package of subversion 1.5 any time soon. That’s why we need to prepare the subversion 1.5 Ubuntu package ourselves.

The package (Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy, i386) there was prepared on Amazon EC2 with Ubuntu 8.04, complied from the sources code of subversion 1.5.0 in Ubuntu 8.10. Enjoy yourselves

You may have noticed that this site is hosted on the EC2 platform powered by Amazon. EC2 provides various functionality that suit the needs for a new start up technology company. Instead of introduce you the features of EC2, I would like to talk about Amazon’s business as a whole.

A recent news by Marketwatch, “Goldman set a buy rating and USD98/share target price” , aroused my thought on the development strategy of Amazon. Despite some of the external forces affecting company growth such as strong online retail sales during economic downturn in United State, one should also focus on its effort on developing technological products and services: Kindle and MP3 sales are the good examples, or services like MTurk show that Amazon is still one of the best player who know how to make use of wisdom of the crowd.
